Reiki?

I do my own version of healing for people. I ask before doing anything normally. What I end up doing is transmitting colors and music to them (they may not view it as that, but that is what I do), and it has been quite effective in most of my encounters.

I would like to expand on my healing though and I've heard that Reiki is effective. Before I go searching for a place that does classes though, I'd like to know a little more about it (really all I know about it is that it involves healing). Could anybody suggest a good informational book about Reiki? I'd really appreciate it.

Reiki is pretty good, but I have found that personally it isn't effective in all circumstances or for all people. I have taken reiki classes and also had a healer work on me, but my problem was later resolved by a shamanic practitioner. I still use it from time to time, and I'm sure many people receive tremendous results from it. But if I were to have a healing practice, I would use it in conjunction with other methods because individuals are so different. I say this because some teach that this is the answer to all problems, and it may be for some people, but not for all.

If you tend to use your own personal energy to heal (I knew someone that did that) then Reiki is going to really help you, as it uses you as a channel for the healing energy of Spirit/Universe/[insert concept here]. That way you don't suck yourself dry trying to help others!

Most forms of healing have their low points. I'm hoping to fill in the gaps that I can't do now with other things. More information always helps.

I used to use only my own energy to do these healings, but as I've gotten older, I've become not so afraid of opening myself up and letting the "Spirit/Universe/[insert concept here]" work through me. I'd like to learn more technique for what I do.

It's not about Reiki, but Ted Andrews has a book out called "How to Heal with Color" that might interest you. I have it but only referred to portions of it instead of reading cover to cover.

I'm fortunate I suppose to have what seems to be called Synaesthesia, and my whole life I've seen letters, words, and numbers in color, each one giving off the feel of a certain color that hasn't changed since I was a kid. Do you ever notice such things? Do names, phone numbers, or other words / numbers seem to give off a subconscious reminder of a certain color?

I have "The Healer's Manual" by Ted Andrews, which I found very helpful. He is one of my favorite authors because he emphasizes how all worlds intersect and affect each other. He is also very good about giving cautions in his books.

I've been pondering if I have a certain kind of Synaesthesia ever since I heard about it a few weeks ago. Mine isn't with letters, words, or numbers though. Certain notes and sounds (like in music) always seem like a certain color to me. I couldn't tell you if f# is blue though because my theory is lacking; if I hear it though, it has a definite color. I have a difficult time when conductor tries to say they want us to sing red (meaning rich), when the song is clearly orange to me.

I am so glad you asked this question....I've been thinking about Reiki for some time and wasn't sure where to turn for the answers I sought. It's good to know others are thinking the same thing. ;)
